I quite often get asked for sushi restaurant recommendations. Tetsu is one of the authentic Japanese Sushi Restaurants in Vancouver.
Tetsu is a small restaurant on Denman street near Robson street.
They take reservations at 5, 7 and 9pm. I booked three weeks before, but unfortunately there were no counter seats available. The tables were full when we got there.
The interior of the restaurant is not very stylish like other high end Sushi places, but well maintained and clean. Omakase menu is available, but we decided to order what we would like to have from the menu this time.
Thin sashimi of white fish with Yuzu Kosho

You can choose from two kinds of white fish. We had great amberjack (Kanpachi) that was recommended on that day. Yuzu Kosho gives great accent to the dish.
Tuna Tataki Salad

Chef’s special -7 pieces of Nigiri

I could not believe that I was able to eat sashimi of Pacific saury (Sanma) in Canada! Each sushi has fresh ingredients and artisanal touches. They were all delicious. Miku and Minami are popular sushi restaurants in Vancouver, but they have such strong sauce on sushi and you can’t really taste the freshness of each fish. I mean, it is fine for people who like creative sushi.
The interior is not fancy, but the quality of food is fantastic. The price is rather reasonable and the waitress was very nice. We were very, very satisfied!
I will definitely recommend this place next time if I am asked!
