Ogojo Canada specializes in selling their authentic Japanese Chili Sauce, called Ogojo Jan. This flavorful sauce is plant-based, no additives and gluten free.
Our Story
In 2019, we held an Ohanashi Ohanashi fundraising event “Kids Marche”.

At the event, we offered a variety of Japanese snacks and treats such as steamed buns, rice cakes, strawberry daifuku, handmade accessories, cotton candy, and more. We also introduced Ogojo Jan, a homemade chili sauce that was hidden among the products. Initially, we were unsure if it would be successful, but we prepared 200 jars for a trial run. To our delight, they sold out quickly and received excellent feedback, with people asking when we would sell them again.
This motivated us to develop a healthier chili oil that everyone could enjoy. We spent a year experimenting with different recipes until we finally found the perfect flavor. With the help of our family and friends, we were able to create an ideal taste that satisfied our taste buds.
Our label design
The label design idea is inspired by the Japanese Gods of Wind and Thunder, created by Vilku Vilka Crafts. They have been a constant supporter of our activities, bringing their daughter to events such as “Ohanashi Baby” and “Ohanashi Ohanashi”, and participating in our “Ohanashi Christmas Event” and “Kids Marche” with their own booth.

Our thought
We aspire to connect with Canadian people and society through Ogojo Jan. Our aim is to showcase our work and identity by using our product as a medium and also to establish a resource for supporting immigrant women.
Our desire is that many people will relish Ogojo Jan and become familiar with our endeavors for immigrant women.
About Ingredients
The most important thing for us is to make something that anyone can eat with peace of mind.
It’s important to us that our product is inclusive and suitable for everyone, regardless of age, dietary restrictions, or preferences. We believe that food tastes better when shared and enjoyed together, so we created a spicy dish that can be easily paired with other ingredients.
To achieve the perfect balance of flavors, we use umami-rich dried shiitake mushrooms and just the right amount of sweetness from raisins. The fragrant sesame oil adds depth to the dish, while the size of the dried onions and garlic is carefully considered to achieve the desired texture.
In addition, we source our soy sauce and miso from AMANO FOODS, a local Vancouver-based company that has been promoting Japanese food culture for years. By using local products, we not only support our community but also ensure that our ingredients are of the highest quality.
Flavors
- Miso flavor – Rich and savory with a slightly sweet taste, perfect for adding depth to dishes that need a bold flavor profile.
- Soy sauce flavor – Crisp and smooth, adding a salty taste that enhances the umami flavor of dishes that require a bit of saltiness.
