Instructor: Taeko Yasui, Holistic Nutritionist&Bodywork Therapist
Taeko has suffered from allergies and atopic dermatitis since she was a child. During the process of de-steroidization, she became convinced that changing her food would improve her health.
After moving to Canada, she became involved in early childhood education and met many children suffering from allergies, atopy, asthma, and rhinitis.
For her own sake, she started attending a Holistic Nutrition school, and as she learned more, she reaffirmed the strong connection between food and body, and food and children’s behavior.
Currently, she is focusing on Bodywork Therapy and sharing her knowledge of Holistic Nutrition and her own experience of recovering her health through food with others.
We made two nutritious snacks with your kids that are free of white sugar and the eight major allergens (milk, eggs, fish, crustaceans, nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soy). (Note: Sesame seeds will be used)
How to make Oats Cookies

Ingredients

Roll up and bake in the oven.

While waiting for the cookies, we made the beet hummus.

We had the kids cut the cucumbers and die-cut them with cookie cutters!

Spread beet hummus on rice cake.

Decorate with veggies.

The cookies were baked in the meantime.

Snack time with everyone

After the snack time, the children went to the next room for a mini story time while Taeko gave a lecture about “how to choose the right snack”.
Allergen-free and white sugar-free snacks may sound difficult. If you know what kind of snacks you can make when your friends around you have allergies, you can prepare snacks that everyone can eat and “enjoy together”. Also, with a little extra effort, they can be a nutritious and balanced snack.
Thank you very much for participating the workshop!
